| Learn About: Tripler Army Medical Center |
Tripler Army Medical Center is the largest military medical treatment facility in the entire Pacific Basin. Located a short distance from Waikiki, Tripler’s area of responsibility spans more than 52 percent of the entire earth’s surface. It is the only Army medical center not located on the United States Mainland.
Close to 800,000 people are eligible to receive care at the Pacific Regional Medical Command’s premier teaching medical center. This includes active-duty service members of all branches of service; their eligible families; military-eligible retirees and their families; veterans; and many Pacific Island Nation residents.
“Our commitment to readiness and the needs of those we serve will set the standards for quality, efficiency and access” is Tripler’s vision.
The staff’s mission is “To ensure readiness through the delivery of quality healthcare.” Deploying a force that is fit to fight is the primary reason for Tripler’s existence. More than 600 staff members are also PROFIS (Professional Filler System) staff ready to deploy at a moment’s notice if needed to South Korea and on humanitarian and emergency missions.
Tripler’s service region includes Hawaii, Japan, Johnston Atoll, Guam, Eniwetok, Kwajalein, various Pacific Island Nations and American Samoa.
On any given day, Tripler has approximately 210 hospital beds available.
Military medicine is moving in the same direction as the entire United States medical community to a wellness-based model of healthcare.
