MEDICAL - Lower Columbia Region. Evening shift, & 1500-2330 & & 32 hours per week. & Open 4/26/2006. $11.43 per hour minimum. & $13.15 per hour midpoint. & $14.86 per hour maximum. JOB SUMMARY Continuously exemplifies the mission, values and customer service philosophy of PeaceHealth in job performance and in relationships to others. Provides patient care as directed by Registered Nurse. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS · Promotes St. John Medical Center’s (SJMC), Nursing Department’s and Unit’s mission and philosophy statements through action, word and behavior. · Promotes customer focused work environment. · Performs assigned tasks within SJMC policy and legal guidelines. · Has complete understanding of medical center fire and safety procedures as contained in the fire and safety manual and as pertains to the unit. Demonstrates competence in drills and in attitude. · Provides for patient privacy, exercises discretion and assures confidentiality at all times. · Reports any significant positive or negative changes in the patient’s condition to the appropriate person(s). · Acts as patient advocate. · Practices cost effective use of supplies. · Conducts with restraint social conversation within work setting. Confines phone calls to breaks and lunch time. Professionalism: Participates in the advancement of nursing practice through continuing education, self-development and supporting nursing philosophy. · Responsibility: Demonstrates commitment to vocation and employer by participating in the development of and assuring compliance with policy/procedure and quality improvement goals. · Interpersonal Relationships and Communication: Demonstrates ability to consistently maintain positive working relationships with others and facilitates written and verbal communication through appropriate channels. · Clinical Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates proficiency in application of clinical knowledge and skills as it applies to patient care activity and the ability to carry out technical skills in a safe efficient manner under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. · Promotes a safety-conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices. · Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. · Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age. · Performs other duties as required or assigned. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS Required qualifications: - State of Washington Nursing Assistant Certification. Note: Employees hired prior to October 1, 1997 may qualify for this position with a Registered Nursing Assistant designation from the state of Washington. - State of Washington Health Care Assistant certification (required within six months of employment). Preferred qualifications: - Previous CNA experience. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS Required: High School or equivalent BLS/CPR WORK ENVIRONMENT Frequent exposure to moving machinery, electricity, hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, infectious wastes, blood borne pathogens and biologicals. Occasional exposure to dusts, fumes or gases, radiation and laser. Environment will occasional be slippery and/or be uneven surfaces. Protective equipment will be occasionally used: safety glasses/shields, respiratory protection, gloves, gowns/aprons and face mask. Occasional exposure to violent behavior. Frequent fast paced, challenging working situations. SENSORY/PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Sensory: Frequent speaking, hearing, near vision, far vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, color accuracy, color discrimination, touch and balance required. Physical: Occasional head/neck static position, rotation, flexion and extension. Occasional torso/back static position, stooping, bending and twisting. Frequent simple grasp, firm grasp, fine manipulation, pinch, finger dexterity, supination/pronation, wrist flexion and operate hand controls. Occasional sitting, crouching/squatting, kneeling, foot controls, climbing stairs and climbing ramps. Occasional crawling. Constant standing and walking.
