Salary: $26,566 - $33,595 PER ANNUM, PLUS 25 PERCENT COLA* Region: Pacific Organization: Tripler Army Medical Center Various Departments Duty Station: Tripler Army Medical Center, HI Area of Consideration: Open to U.S. citizens and American Samoans. Expanded Definitions Duties: Serves as a practical nurse in one of several areas of a Medical Treatment Facility, such as a hospital clinic or ward, operating room, emergency room, outpatient clinic, occupational health clinic, or a similar location. Responsible for a variety of treatment procedures and the provision of nursing care to patients of all ages who are scheduled for treatment of illness, minor surgical procedures, preventive health care, and/or pre and post operative care. Prepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, topical, intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular routes; administers prescribed oxygen and respiratory therapy treatments. Initiates IVs; regulates flow rate and monitors prescribed IV fluids; administers prescribed oxygen and respiratory therapy treatments. Assists physicians during diagnostic, therapeutic and/or minor surgical procedures by preparing necessary supplies and equipment; drapes, positions, holds the patient and hands instruments and supplies to the physician during the procedure. Performs procedures within the scope of practice to include electrocardiograms, sterile dressing application and packing, wound and burn care, bladder catheterization, enemas, suture removal, ear washes, cardiac monitoring, or gastric lavage. Monitors patients and observes, identifies, reports and records changes in objective signs and subjective symptoms. Provides written and verbal reports regarding patients care for inclusion in the patients medical record. Prepares patients for tests, examinations, treatment, or minor surgery. Qualification Requirements: Basic Requirements: Licensure: Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia or must have applied for a license to practice. Applications of candidates possessing a license must be accompanied by a certified or photostatic copy of the license, a notarized statement attesting to the fact, or a citation of the license number and State issuing it. Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period.
